Hand Lettering: Christmas Cards.

Making Christmas cards is something I really enjoy doing in general, especially for clients! But, lately I’ve been itching to do some hand lettering.

One day in class I came a cross a girl’s hand lettering (hey emily!) and I was so in love with her work! I wanted to try creating something similar to it. So off I was to pinterest to look at similar styles for inspiration. I really liked the tiny loops at the beginning and end of words so I wanted to make that a part of the lettering.

After a few test runs I figured out what I wanted to do. I took photos of the first card and make the typeface digital.

After making it digital in illustrator and photoshop, I made the layout for the card. I created a 4 x 6 box in inDesign and placed the type accordingly. After creating the file I exported, sent it to dropbox, and printed it on my brown paper. I love this paper, it’s just so lovely.
Lets not get into the paper conversation *cough*

Once the cards were printed and cut, I drew the holly leaves on each card and viola! I am really pleased with these little guys and can’t wait to sell them at the Art Extravaganza! I hope you guys enjoy them just as much as I do!
